This single-pickup bass was introduced in 1977, and in 1979 the Spector NS-2 bass appeared, carrying a second Jazz Bass style pickup towards the bridge. We purchased enough wood to produce only four basses with *solid* old growth redwood body wings. The result of Ned Steinbergers contribution was the Spector NS-1 bass, with a very comfortable and completely functional curved and carved body design. The result was a lightweight bass which is very articulate! Its older passive pickups and active electronics help to give this bass some Brooklyn era tones.
